Waves of Change

I stood beside a quiet lake with the Lord.
I asked Him what purpose my life holds.
He smiled at me and looked down.
He chose a stone and threw it into the middle of the lake.
The circles started small.
They grew.
They multiplied.
Until the waves kissed the shore at every edge.
“I see, Lord.” I replied.
“You want me to be the lake and feed the forest around me.”
“You want me to nurture any living being I can.”
“You want me to supply every need to this forest of trees.”
He responded with a simple shake of his head and smiled.
“No, child. I want you to be the rock.
Your life is but a vapor, a small moment in time.
You are the rock, but your life will create waves of change.”
When I decided to start this blog I started googling "Ripple Effect." I found this on Caryn Blanchard's blog and it really spoke to me.  I have the tendency to "nurture any living being that I can."  My nature is to nurture and heal.  I like to help people...sometimes to a fault.

But I want to be the rock.

I want to "create waves of change."

Change in my life.
Change in Matthew's life.
Change in my friend's lives.
Change in my families lives.
Change in a stranger's life.

Nurturing is great, but to be able to create a change in just one person would be phenomenal.  
The next few months are going to be all about "Waves of Change" or what we are calling "The Neff's Ripple Effect."  We are not quite ready to tell too much information, but it will becoming soon.  I know this will drive some of you crazy, but be patient.

Please pray for us as we investigate this great adventure.  We appreciate your love and support.

What a special day today is...our 3rd wedding anniversary.   But, travel back with me to March 20, 2015.   Three years ago I was getting up early to go and decorate the Garten Verein in Galveston, TX.  I was singing "Going to the Chapel" that my mom forced my bridesmaids to play on the way to the church.  I was getting my hair and make-up done my one of my  Cleveland youthies(yes I know that is not a word...that is what I called affectionately called them). Cautiously Optimistic

So, since the first post so much has changed.  We filled out the paperwork and answered most of the questions.  We still needed to go back and look at them again, but for the most part that was done.  I had put on Matthew's to do list to go get his social security card (insert eye roll).  While I was waiting for that to happen, life happened.  Some issues within his youth group, the Santa Fe shooting, you know, not fun stuff.  All I kept thinking was. "Maybe we don't need a child.  Maybe we were suppose to be there for the ones that we know.  The ones that come in and out of the church that need us."  All I kept thinking is that the world sucked.  We kind of sort of decided to put the paperwork in a drawer.  I needed to pray over this.  Fast forward 2 months.  Nothing had been done.  It is near the end of May and we had just found out that one of my closest friends was finally going to get to adopt the sweet baby sh...
